All of My Raggedy Anns and Andys

Currently, I have a small collection of Raggedy Ann and Andy dolls.

As you can see, they reside together in a wooden doll cradle in my doll room.

Raggedy Accessories

When I transitioned from my Raggedy Ann and Andy bedroom, I kept a few Raggedy items. There was my music box, mentioned in the last post, and my Raggedy Ann and Andy cookie jar.

This metal bin is where I kept a lot of my doll clothes and accessories. Once upon a time it had a red plastic lid, but that broke a long time ago. Today, the bin holds extra clothing for my stuffed Belle doll (from Peanuts).

The other Raggedy item I still had was this small Knickerbocker Raggedy Andy. 

He started out as part of my bedroom lamp (like the one below - not my photo) , but the glue holding him to the block wore away eventually.

In fifth grade, I received two new Raggedy Ann items from my mother. Small metal figurines. The first one is of Raggedy Ann and Andy reading a book.

The second is of Raggedy Ann decorating a birthday cake for Raggedy Andy. These were a fun and unexpected addition to my early doll collection.

Patty Jo

Going into convention this year, I told myself that I was ready to buy a nice Teri Lee doll to add to my collection. But, I didn't see any that I liked enough in the Sales Room.

But I did like the Reproduction Patty Jo in the Helper Room. So I deposited a decent amount of my Helper tickets into the drawing for her. 

And as fate would have it, I won her. Yay! I am still on the hunt for a vintage Terri Lee, but I am very happy to have a little part of the Terri Lee history with this reproduction Patty Jo. 

The blog, Black Doll Collecting, has an informative page on Patty Jo dolls that gives their history.

Patty Jo is 15 inches tall and was made in 2004 by Knickerbocker. LikeTerri Lee dolls, she comes with a daisy to wear on her wrist. What a great touch.

Patty Jo got to meet some of the similar sized dolls in the house (Sasha, Patty Jo, Tiana, and Mandy), and they took a group photo.

UFDC 69th Annual Convention, 2018 - Phoenix, AZ: Part 8

Before heading to bed on Friday night, I took a last walk through the Helper room and took photos of the amazing Special Regional Directors' Challenge Helpers. 

Each region showcased this year did an awesome job.

The next morning I was up at the crack of dawn in order to volunteer for the Helper Drawing. We moved all the ticket buckets to the main ballroom, and prepped them. Then... the magic happened! Lucky winners had their names called for wonderful prizes. This year I won three: 

Madame Alexander's Baby Sweet Tears and Lucinda,

Chef Bunny by Connie Tognoli,

And Patty Jo by Knickerbocker. I'm glad I brought an extra suitcase with me.

After putting my new treasure up in my room, I looked at the Publishers' Preview and Artist Showcase.

There were only two artists this year, Linda Mountain,

And Pat Moulton.

Then it was time for lunch, suitcase packing, and a nap.

That evening we all gathered in the main ballroom for the Banquet. The table centerpieces were 3-D puzzles of famous landmarks from around the world.

Licca joined me in her pretty lavender ballgown.

After dinner, everyone received the convention souvenir doll by Ruby Red Galleria, Lia, Journey to Adventure.

 That's it. Convention was over. Maybe next year you will join us for convention in Nashville, TN.

Setting Up in the Base Apartment

Nothing much to add so far this week, so I thought I would share with you some photos of my dolls in their new home, the guest room.

These are all of the non-fashion/Barbie type dolls that I brought with me to Japan. The rest, alas, will hide away in storage for the next three years. From left to right: Genius Baby, My Friend Mandy (up top), My Friend Becky (an after Christmas purchase), Sadie (Madame Alexander Friends Boutique, and also an after Christmas purchase), Dave's Cabbit (from the anime, Tenchi Muyo), Pot Belly Bear, a new doll crib I found at the base thrift store, panda, and my two Raggedy Anns (Applause Raggedy Ann - 25" from the 1990s, and 1970s Dress Me Raggedy Ann from Knickerbocker).

As you can see, the room is in serious need of furniture. The only items in the room, besides the dolls, are my dresser, a lamp, and the litter box.

The cradle is missing one ball but is otherwise in great shape. I think I will paint it, since the modern pink and green design on the head and foot boards just don't blend with my older dolls.

I also really want to find a child or doll sized table and chairs for the room (as well as a futon for guests).
