Mera, Queen of Atlantis

Today I decided to open Barbie DC Justice League Mera, 2017.

With her great colors, she looks amazing out in the sunlight.

Unfortunately, her arms are not jointed at the elbows. If they were, she could have been posed a bit more dynamically.

Her armor is sewn to her body suit, and that is OK with me. I do not plan on redressing her.

While I was out, I took a couple of photos of another red-haired hero.

Squirrel Girl!

She looks happy to be playing outside with Tippy Toe.

Wonder Women

I unboxed a Wonder Woman from my collection and decided to photograph all the Wonder Woman dolls in my collection (not counting the little action figures).

Wonder Woman dolls: Mattel - DC Wonder Woman - Diana Prince & Hidden Sword (2017); Mattel - Superman VS Batman: Dawn of Justice - Wonder Woman (2016); Tonner - Diana Prince - Princess of Paradise (redressed, 2014); Mattel - Wonder Woman Collector's Edition (1999); and Mattel - DC Superhero Girls - Wonder Woman (2016).

Diana Prince & Hidden Sword was the doll I unboxed today.

She is from the 2017 Wonder Woman movie.

Here she is with the doll from the 2016 Superman VS Batman: Dawn of Justice movie.

This Wonder Woman by Tonner shows off how she reflects bullets with her gauntlets.

This 1999 Wonder Woman was actually my second Wonder Woman doll, I used to have an 8" Mego Wonder Woman, but sold her with my other Mego Superheroes and villains in the early 2000s.

I look forward to being able to add a Wonder Woman from the Wonder Woman: 1984 movie once it comes out.

May the 4th be with You

Today is May 4th, known among Star Wars fans as "May the Fourth", like "May the Force be with you", from the Star Wars series. It has become the unofficial day to celebrate all things Star Wars related.

So, seeing that I needed to add some excitement and joy to my life today, the quarantine/social distancing/ Covid 19 situation has had me feeling a bit down, I decided to open up my two Forces of Destiny action figures/dolls. The dolls were released around 2017 and are by Hasbro.

Up first is Leia Organa and R2-D2.

For this set, Leia is dressed in the costume she wore on Hoth during episode 5 - The Empire Strikes Back. (Many fans consider this the best of the Star Wars movies.)

The other doll is Rey of Jakku. Rey is one of the main characters from the final trilogy: Episode 7 - The Force Awakens, Episode 8 - The Last Jedi, and Episode 9 - The Rise of Skywalker (which I haven't seen yet, so no spoilers, please).

May the 4th be with you.

DC Superhero Girls Poison Ivy and Hawkgirl

This week my Brother and Sister-in-law surprised me with a gift, DC Superhero Girls Hawkgirl. So it was time for another DC Superhero Girls blog - this will be a two-in-one post with Poison Ivy and Hawkgirl, since Poison Ivy was still in her box, even though I got her in the summer.

This Poison Ivy was released in 2016 with the other first release dolls. I didn't buy her originally, since I wanted to focus on the heroes from the line, not the villains. Now that I have her, I am just missing one doll from the original release - Harley Quinn.

Hawkgirl was an Amazon exclusive that was released around December 2017. She was a slightly more expensive doll than the other basic dolls when she first came out and was hard to find.

The back of Poison Ivy's box gives a little bit of information about her. Unlike Batgirl, Supergirl, Wonder Woman, and Bumble Bee, she did not have a student ID card in her box. Neither did Hawkgirl. Weird. I do not remember, offhand, if Starfire, Katana, or Killer Frost had ID cards.

In DC comics, Poison Ivy's alias is Dr. Pamela Isley. She is a botanist (plant scientist) and used her knowledge of plant toxins to commit crimes. Later she gained super powers that allowed her to grow and control plants and emit plant toxins herself. She has become an eco-warrior and is close friends with Harley Quinn.

Not only did Hawkgirl not have an ID card, there is no information about her on the box.

This Hawkgirl is based on the third Hawkgirl - Kendra Saunders (the first two were Shiera Sanders Hall and Shayera Hall). Kendra was a teenager when she committed suicide and the spirit of Shiera Hall entered and resurrected her. Kendra decided to continue Shiera's legacy and became her own incarnation of Hawkgirl.

And now the photos: Poison Ivy

And now some of the whole DC Super Hero Girls gang.
