She's Here! Effanbee Mama Doll.

My baby finally arrived. I purchased her in July at the UFDC Convention, and had her shipped to my parents to rebox and ship to me in Japan. I was getting worried since it took over a month in the mail to get here, but she is here and is in great shape.

She is 27 inches tall and has a cloth body with composition legs, arms, and head. Her hair seems to be mohair.

She is marked Effanbee on her shoulder plate, but I haven't figured out if she is a named model, but she is most likely from the 1920s. Her eyes like to rock back a little far so sometimes it looks like she is rolling her eyes at me. I'll have to look into how to remedy that issue.

Her outfit is cute, but could use a good freshening up. I think I'll see about crocheting her a new sweater and bonnet that will fit her a bit better.

Raggedy Ann

A while back (years ago) I was missing my Raggedy Ann something fierce. I saw this New Raggedy on Sale at the mall and made her mine.

She is a 25" Applause Raggedy Ann from the late 90s.

To me, she has that perfect look of innocence and fun that Raggedy Ann is all about, and retains the classic look, even without the shoe-button eyes.

I grew up with Raggedy Ann: I read the books, sang the song, heck, my whole room was decorated with Raggedy Ann (comforter, sheets, throw pillows, bank, planters, lamp, and doll). Not to forget my Raggedy Ann nightgown and my Raggedy Ann party dress. So it was a wonderful moment to finally have a Raggedy Ann again to call my own.

Hopelessly Fabulous 50s Sienna Evans

The doll stands I ordered have arrived, so Hopelessly Fabulous 50s Sienna Evans is finally out of her box.

She is 16 inches tall, a little shorter than Evangeline. 1 1/2 inches does make a difference.

Manufactured by Madame Alexander, Sienna is part of the Alex Doll line.

She is all dressed up and ready to go out. She even has a little rhinestone brooch on her stole.

Rhinestones on her heels.

Fabulous hair.

What a pretty face!

Organizing the Re-Ment

I've started arranging my Re-Ment figures in cases so that they are not all over the place.

My sushi. The top case has a little too much room, but it clears off my dresser.

This set is not in a case yet, but I wanted to show it off.

Akihabara: Electric City

Yesterday we visited Akihabara - land of electronics and geek culture. This area of town is filled with bright flashy lights, second hand game/toy/card stores, and just wonderful.

I saw Pullip dolls, Blythe dolls, Momoko dolls, all sorts of dolls. I even browsed in an official Volks store (Ouch! Pricey!) and an official Azone store (not as pricey). The dolls were amazing, but I was good and didn't buy any... yet.

We had dinner at a Spanish/Italian Tapas bar on the 7th floor of the Chomp Chomp building. (No, really, that was its name.)

A view of the restaurant.

Dave in the decor.

A hot dog, just because.

Lights! Chaos! Akihabara!

Love Merci, one of the many adult toy stores.

Queen of the Mardi Gras: One More Time

Ok, just a few more photos of my Queen of the Mardi Gras, 'cause she is just sooooo photogenic.

More Pics of Queen of the Mardi Gras

Here are some more pics of Queen of the Mardi Gras Evangeline Ghastly in her new dress. I just love how it looks.

And she poses so well now that her arms are not under that heavy red fabric.
