UFDC Convention 2016 - Washington, D.C.: Part 1

This year's UFDC Convention (#67), Kindred Spirits, was held, once again in Washington D.C. It was July 27- July 30 (July 26 had pre-convention activities).

Since it was nearby, my husband drove me and my dolls to the hotel, the Washington Hilton. This way I didn't have to pay the obnoxious parking fees at the hotel. I got there bright and early, checked in, and waited for the 10AM Hillwood Estate tour.

The estate was just a few blocks away, but in the extreme heat, the bus ride was much appreciated.

The estate had belonged to Marjorie Merriweather Post, and she turned it and her amazing art collection into a museum so that everyone could see her beautiful items.

The estate is known for it's Faberge egg collection, as well as it's Russian collection, and fine china collection.

Licca joined me on this trip, her third visit to Washington, D.C.

When we got back to the hotel, I volunteered in the Helper room, assisting in setting it up. I never realized how much work it takes to have the Helper room ready for visitors. Considering volunteering in it next convention you go to, it will be greatly appreciated.

That evening was the At Your Service Open House and ice cream social. I chatted with a few friends there and then called it a night. I knew the next day would be another long one.

Sadie in the Summer

I have been ignoring my 18" dolls this past year, so today I had mercy on Sadie and changed her out of her Winter outfit.

She is wearing a new jean skirt, rainbow striped shirt, and rainbow striped headband from Walmart.

She looks much more comfortable. It is about 105 degrees Fahrenheit today, so she really needed the outfit switch.

Isi Dawndancer and Fawntine Fallowheart

I'm not a huge Monster High fan, but every now and then a special one catches my eye.
This is Isi Dawndancer, Daughter of a Deer Spirit, from the Brand-Boo Students line.

And this is Fawntine Fallowheart from the Fright-Mares line.

I bought Isi in December, and when I saw Fawntine in the Spring, I knew I needed her to go with Isi.

As you can see, Fawntine is much smaller than Isi. Even so, in my mind they are cousins.

Getting Ready for the UFDC Convention

I have been busy, busy, busy getting ready for the UFDC Convention, and so has Licca.

Here she is looking at her wardrobe and wondering what she is going to pack for the week.

She decided on four outfits, her pajamas, and her teddy bear.

Now I have to put together a packing list for me.

Yumemiru Princess

A few months ago I saw photos of this outfit, and I knew I had to have it when it came out.
I don't normally go for fluffy dresses, but this one is so over the top it is marvelous.

There are a series of Licca dolls and outfits in the Yumemru line, this one is the Snow Crystal Dress.
Yumemiru Princess Maker is a line of Sega video games that these outfits tie into.

Besides the dress, shoes, and jewelry, the outfit comes with a tiny lipstick and perfume bottle. Good luck not losing those.

Licca really does look like a princess (or queen) in this outfit.

June Round Up

June was so busy that I never got around to posting much. So here is a quick dolly recap of the rest of the month.

I purchased Mulder and Scully Barbie dolls from a friend. Unfortunately Scully's suit has a few holes. I will need to find her a pair of dark tights to wear underneath them. I used to love the X-Files and still enjoy reading fanfics about them.

I found a My Child Doll at Goodwill for a great price.
Ever since I gave one to my mother for Christmas '90, I have wanted one of my own. Now I have one.

She needed her hair done, and now she looks much better.

Licca got a new job at Burger Kitchen. She is a roller-skating waitress. And, Oh, so cute.

My Friend Mandy got her first bath in over 30 years.

She came through it safe and sound and looks great.

I've been dying to do a roller-rink set-up with all my skating dolls. That didn't happen. But I did photograph two of my Liccas in their skating gear.

And today, July 1st, I got a Mini-Samantha. Not a bad dolly month.
