Prom Dress

Homecoming Queen Skipper, who I blogged about earlier this week, was released in 1988. While blogging about her, I started thinking about my high school prom in 1989, the year after she was released. Hair was still big, and dresses were still poofy. My dress even had something in common with Skipper's dress, it was metallic.

I'm on the right. As you can see, pink was THE COLOR. LOL While Skipper's dress has metallic thread running through it, mine is all metallic with lace over parts. Does Skipper's dress remind you of any dresses in your past?

Homecoming Queen Skipper

I finally got around to deboxing my Homecoming Queen Skipper.

She was easy to take off of her cardboard backer, with only two twist ties and her hair being held with a long plastic piece and thread. Due to the age of the doll, the tape on the hair plastic piece was very sticky and I had to carefully cut the threads, rather than just pull the two pieces apart.

In her box she had directions for her dress, a scrapbook/catalog of current Skippers and outfits, and cardboard cutouts.

Her waist is very wobbly, and her legs are covered in green spots. Seeing her legs was a very sad moment. but Que Sera Sera.

In the box, it looked like she had powder all over her face, luckily it turned out to be dust and it came right off.

The strings on her skirt work, and allow her to have a poofy dress that shows off her green spotted legs.

Here she is with Crimp and Curl Skipper.

Together they show the casual and formal sides of Skipper.

Duffy, the Disney Bear

Yesterday I decided to have some post-Christmas fun, I dressed my Duffy the Disney Bear in his Mickey Mouse Club outfit.

I really wish I lived much closer to the Disney parks. In Tokyo, I was only an hour or so away.

From Duffy and me, we hope you have a very happy and safe New Year.

Merry Christmas

I opened up my 10 Year Anniversary Little Pullip, Princess Rosalind. In her festive dress, she blends with the holiday decorations.

Here she is with Licca, for size comparison.

Merry Christmas and Happy Holidays to all of you.

Very Licca

When we traveled to New York for Thanksgiving, Licca wore her new Very Licca Trench Coat outfit.

The outfit consists of navy blue tights. a navy blue mock turtle neck, a green plaid skirt, brown boots, and the awesome trench coat.

The secret to getting the coat on smoothly was to use tiny rubber bands to hold the shirt sleeves in place. Otherwise the sleeves got all bunched up and the arms couldn't move.

It is a very metropolitan and grown up look for little Licca.

My First Doll Show

Today I went to the Eastern National Antique to Modern Doll Show, also commonly called the Gaithersburg Doll Show. This was my first time attending a doll show (outside of the dealer's room at convention).

I was happy to run into people I know and found 3 dolls that I wanted. I decided to be good and only came home with two of them.

I am excited to be the new owner of a Virga Lollipop Doll with orchid lavender hair.

My other purchase is Beauty Secrets Christie. She has been on my want list for quite a few years and I am glad to finally have her.

L.A. Girl Fashionista

LA Girl Fashionista, with her half-shaved punk hair-do was a must have for me.

Unfortunately, her outfit is rather bland, compared to her hair-do.

So I decided to find an outfit that brings out the pink in her hair and evokes the 80s. This Barbie Fashion Pack seems to do that.

Here she is, wearing both shirts and the pink bag from the Fashion Pack. She really pops in it.

The only problem is that the two shirts are difficult to stack on her. In the photo below she is now wearing the jean skirt from the pack.

Just the stripey shirt.

Just the Unicorn shirt.

And now with the jean shorts.

Which is your favorite combination?
