Happy New Year! 

What do you get for the most wonderful husband in the world when he already has everything he wants or needs? Something small that can fit on his desk or cubicle, but what? 

Then inspiration hit me - a Sylvannian family character that rides a unicycle and plays badminton, two activities my husband enjoys. The catch - the only figure that comes with those accessories is a girl, and I haven't seen separate boy clothes for sale. No problem. I bought a little boy squirrel and exchanged him in the box with the female cat. Problem solved. And I can even claim the roller skates in the box since my husband doesn't skate.

What Has Been Keeping Me Busy

So I haven't made many posts in the last 2 months or so, mainly because I have been caught up in crafting, mostly for the holidays. My hard work has paid off, and I got a lot done and learned some new skills.

Here are some of the projects I have made recently.

A Halloween candle mat.

A baby quilt.

And an Autumn table runner.

There are few more projects, but I don't want to post photos until after Christmas, so the recipients are surprised.

Happy Thanksgiving!

Today is the day after Thanksgiving, for me, and I am still thankful. I am thankful for the opportunity to live in Japan, where I can eat Snoopy and Woodstock donuts from Mister Donut as part of my Thanksgiving dinner.

Tokyo Tower, The Forgotten Tourist Site

Since we had to be downtown for an errand, Dave and I decided to go to Tokyo Tower and get another "Tourist Site" off our to do list.

Built in 1958, the tower is 333 meters high. Until last year, it was the tallest building in Tokyo. Last year, Tokyo Skytree opened as the tallest building in Tokyo and poor Tokyo Tower has been all but forgotten.

There was no line to go up to the observatory deck, so we went straight up (unfortunately the special upper deck was closed) to catch a view of the city. While not as high as the observatory deck at Sunshine City, the day was clear and we enjoyed the view.

I was then excited to view the lower levels, Foot Town, which according to Wikipedia, "FootTown, a four-story building located directly under the tower, houses museums, restaurants and shops."

Ummmmmm, not exactly. There is a so-so food court, a runners' store/spa, a Tokyo Tower gift shop, and some cheap/sleazy Tokyo Omiyagi carts. On the first floor there is an aquarium that seems to be a room with a few fish tanks in it (I wasn't going to pay 1,000 Yen to see that. 

We had lunch at the Chinese Buffet, it was OK, but not good. I would recommend that if you want to see Tokyo Tower that you have lunch at any of the decent looking restaurants you pass on the way to the tower.

 I'm sure that in a couple of years the tower will be completely empty and closed to tourists.

The Tower even has its own mascots, these odd little Tower twins (standing behind Dave).
