Re-Ment Madness

Today I had lunch at Mos Burger for the first time. They are a Japanese fast food institution so I had to eat there at least once.

I had a Teriyaki Chicken Burger and Onito Set. Oni = onion, to = and. The Onito ended up being 2 onion rings and 6 french fries (a nicer, smaller side than U.S. fast food restaurants).

While tasty (real chicken chunks, not processed sludge), the price was a bit steep. Dave wasn't impressed with his burger. The taste and consistency of the meat was more like veal or meatloaf than an American burger.

After lunch we walked a little bit more and then checked to see if the Seiyu had the Re-Ment Sushi packs. By chance, they did. Almost a whole box! So..... I bought the whole box. The cashier probably thinks I'm crazy, but I want to finish the set.

Out of those 12 packs and the example piece, I received 3 of the 4 sets I needed to finish the entire set.

I declare myself done with the sushi set.

I've been hoping to find more sushi miniatures, but have been out of luck lately. To make up for that I bought a Re-Ment Mickey's Retro Kitchen box set. Too cute.

My box contained:

Yes, my fashion dolls can now make waffles (with butter and honey) in the shape of Mickey Mouse's head. Yummy.

Sunshine City

This weekend's adventure was a trip to Sunshine City http://www.sunshinecity.co.jp/ .

We rode the train in and spent the rest of the day exploring.

After having lunch at a a Thai restaurant, we took the elevator to the observation deck on the 60th floor. I've never been on an elevator that went as fast as this one. At its peak speed it was going 600 KM/HR.

After the observatory we visited the aquarium. We saw a small seal show, and toured the exhibits - Sunfish, octopus, etc. The Aquarium was VERY CROWDED. If we go again, it will not be on a Sunday.

Cool! There is an Ultraman statue outside the building.

There was even a Cat Cafe.

It wasn't what I expected. Some cats were on display behind glass.

Others hung out on perches. Most seemed immune to the fact that people were there that wanted to pet and cuddle them.

A worker did bring out a couple of cats to play, but only one at a time.

In the evening we had pizza at Shakey's and then headed home on the train.

We only saw a fraction of Sunshine City, so we swill definitely head out there again.

Liv Dolls

Right before the move, I decided to buy a Liv doll. I was interested in checking out their maneuverability and play-ability. Walmart had the Making Waves dolls on sale, so I chose Making Waves Hayden.

She is a basic Liv in a bathing suit. Not long after, I realized that she couldn't hang out in a bathing suit in February, so I bought a cute nautical outfit, also on sale. I was starting to become addicted. By the actual move I had bought another outfit (pajamas), an extra wig, and another Hayden, Twist and Dance.

While she has decent mobility, she can not cross her legs, and does not have full BJD range of motion.

She can balance on her own in many poses.

In her cute, 2-piece bathing suit.

This is the Twist and Dance doll. I loved the look, but was disappointed that the body doesn't move the same as the other doll. The legs don't bend and she can't even sit down. It looses a lot of play-ability.

Conference is Less Than 2 Weeks Away

The last two weeks have been hectic, mostly involving studying Japanese and work around the house (and the 4th of July). This week I have been steadily working on table favors for the UFDC conference in my free time. I fly out the 22nd so time is running out. 

6 of the 10 are finished.

All these guys need are a ribbon bow around their necks. Since I ran out of blue felt (and blue thread), the last 4 Kewpies will be lions.

As I've noted earlier, Kewpies are HUGE in Japan.

I figured that since I'm here, I will make sure that any table favors I make are culturally Japanese.

Yesterday our travel took us to Nagano to see the Snow Monkeys!

As you can see, it was a beautiful, clear day. (No rain.)

For those interested in visiting, after parking in the lot, it is a 1.6KM hike up to the park. Strollers are not recommended.

Our second stop was at a fruit orchard where we ate cherries that we picked.

The cherries were lovely. The bus ride home, on the other hand...
