Gene in "The Spirit of Truth"

Joan of Arc was killed on May 30, 1431. In honor of her death day, I present to you: Gene in "The Spirit of Truth".

The outfit was released in 2000 for Gene's 5th anniversary.

It consists of a chain mail body-suit, gauntlets, boots, a kilt, breastplate, sword, and shield. It also come with hoop earrings that I did not put on.

This is a lovely costume.

Gene in El Morocco

This outfit of Gene's is El Morocco.

On line and in the box, I thought it was a little black dress, but in reality it is a fabulous deep purple.
(And I love purple.)

She is still wearing those awful mules. I still need to go shoe shopping for her.

Goodbye New York

The next outfit Gene will model is "Goodbye New York".

The outfit consists of a red shirt, brown skirt, jacket, gloves, pantyhose, a hat, brown heels, a muff, a teddy bear, a handkerchief, and a hat box.

The hat doesn't quite fit on her hair-do, so I have tucked the black lace veil under the hat.

She looks gorgeous against the orange and yellow background in this outfit. I can imagine her waiting for her train and waving goodbye to her family and friends.

"I won't cry."

The shoes disappoint me. Who wears mules in the middle of Winter? She needs some nice brown covered shoes or boots for this outfit. Plus the shoes slide all around and fall off at the slightest movement.

Gene Comes Home

Since the first time I saw a Gene doll in person, I have coveted her. Almost three years later, and she has finally joined my doll family.

The Gene I bought is Hello Hollywood, Hello. She represents the beginning of the starlet's career. Her beautiful curls and sultry eyes are what drew me to this particular doll.

I also bought five of Gene's outfits. The first one I had to try on was her Usherette outfit. In the Gene storyline, She was an Usher at a theatre when she was "discovered".

She even comes with an tiny flashlight.

Pros and cons of the doll and these two outfits. Pros - they are lovely, and Gene's shoulders have great movement. Cons - this is an older Gene and she doesn't have bendable elbows or knees (but I knew this when I bought her), and the shoes that came with the usherette costume won't stay on her feet. She is wearing her Hello Hollywood shoes in the photos. None of the cons detract from my enjoyment of her, though sitting her on her furniture is going to look awkward with her legs sticking straight out.
