Beauty Secrets Christie

I purchased Beauty Secrets Christie about a year and a half ago. I got her for an awesome price and displayed her on the shelf in her box, knowing that I wanted to save opening her up for a special day.

Well, today was that day. It was disgusting outside - rainy, dark, and cold. I rolled up my sleeves and carefully unboxed Christie.

The back of the box.

She was released in 1980 and still had the original price, $6.82, on her box. Wow!

Her accessories.

The grip on the stand is supposed to fit around her calf, I gently tried to slide her leg in and quickly gave up. The plastic is too hard and would have bitten into her vinyl leg.

Here she is holding her powder puff and mirror. The mirror doesn't sit quite right, but still looks pretty good.

She has flexible shoulders, elbows, and wrists. To make her arms move, you press the button on her back. The left arm has the best range of movement and is good for combing her hair and putting on makeup.

Because of the age of the doll, the stickers for her mirrors did not hold up that well, but that is to be expected.

Here are two quick videos of me pushing the buttons to make Christie groom herself.

Interesting, the video makes the sound the button makes when clicked seem really loud. It didn't seem that loud in real life.

The movement isn't as impressive as I hoped it would be. The commercials in 1980 made it look much more glamorous.

But, she is still a great addition to my collection.

  1. She's a lovely doll. I have had her for years. Sold her, but because her hand came out of socket, the buyer returned her. I was happy to have her back.
