Licca goes to Honolulu

I found a nifty scene book for Licca at the Hard Off recently. It has 3 Honolulu scenes: the beach, a kitchen, and a forest luau. Here are some photos I took using the 1st two scenes.

Rain, Rain Go Away

It is dark, cold, and rainy here, but Licca has decided that she will brave the elements, any way. She has put on her rain boots and is carrying her favorite pink umbrella and matching tote bag. This girl knows how to dress.

Salvation Army Lassie

Random doll for today:

She is an 8 inch doll dressed in the Uniform of The Salvation Army. I got her sometime in the late 1980s/early 1990s.

Licca is Moving on Up

Licca's little closet was getting very crowded, so she decided to expand.
This is her new walk in closet, complete with two dressers.

Between her two closets, I think she should have room for more clothes. ;)

Coolness! Licca is being used to advertise strawberries. I saw this display at the Ueno Train Station shopping area.

The sales men were even wearing pink jackets with Licca on them. Unfortunately, I did not snap a photo.

Hiking Up Mt. Takao

For my second hike up Mt. Takao, we took trail 6 up and trail 4 down to the area with the restaurants and cable car.

Trail 6 slopes gently, for the most part. But, unlike the main trail, it can be treacherous. The trail in narrow, rocky, covered in roots, and has no guardrails. There are also wet, muddy areas, and one place where you either hop from rock to rock, or just walk through the stream. The benefit of this trail, is the view. It is a lovely walk.

Along the trail, there are two small shines. One is in a cave. The other is by a waterfall.

Unlike the main trail, this one does not meet up with the temple/cable car/restaurant area, but there were occasional benches along the trail for rests.

We took the ski lift down. While walking past the shops on our way back to the train, we came upon this chef making noodles. That's a lot of rolling dough.

Ueno Zoo

Yup, I went to another zoo. This time I visited Ueno Zoo, which is located in Ueno Park,in Tokyo.

The weather was perfect, 70 degrees and sunny.

The first animals I saw were the Giant Pandas.

This was my first time seeing a Dhole - Asiatic Wilde Dog.

There were also Seals and a Polar Bear.

Like the Tama Zoo, there was some construction going on, so the zoo is getting better and better. There is even a little monorail that takes you from one side of the zoo to the other. Over all, I like Ueno Zoo better than the Tama Zoo.

After the zoo, I went to the Western Art Museum, also in Ueno Park. The museum has a wonderful collection, including many Rodin sculptures, and works by Monet, Van Gogh, and Gauguin.

The Western Art Museum is just one of many museums in Ueno Park that can be visited. I can't wait to see the rest.

Making a Dress From Socks

I'm not much of a sewer. In a good year, I may sew two Halloween costumes, and that is about it.So when I decided to sew a dress for Evangeline Ghastly, I was a little nervous about how it would turn out. Especially since I was working without a pattern. I decided to go easy, and created her dress and cape out of socks. 100 Yen socks to be exact.

This is the photo I used for the Masquerade contest. not the best, but the lighting out side that day sucked.

See.

This is the picture I really wanted to use, but the glare was horrible.

And here are some photos I took of her today, as she removes her mask after the party.
