Visiting the Edo Tokyo Museum... With Licca

This weekends day trip was to the Edo Tokyo Museum. The museum houses reconstructions of Edo buildings as well as artifacts.

Licca decided she needed to go with me and she had fun traveling through time at the museum.

Looking down at the Kabuki theater.

A traditional temple float.

The local newspaper offices during the Meji Era.

Licca in front of the newspaper building.

A diorama of Edo.

This is how the important Samurai and their families have a picnic.

(And I thought bento boxes were nice.)

A detailed model of a palace.

Samurai armor!

Fire Brigade Standards.

The standards are pretty heavy.

Oooooo... a print and book store.

Diorama of a dry goods producer.

Licca: I'd like a kimono to go.

Dave tries out for a job hauling water.

Licca: I love a parade!

Yes, that is a giant chicken on top of the float.

 Tokyo, I mean Edo, bay.

Let's go to the theater.

Licca: No popcorn?

Yes, that is a lobster on the kimono.

Riding a penny farthing in Meji Era Tokyo.

Yes, we have entered the Tokyo Zone. Cue the spooky music.

Yup, pogs have been around that long.

Licca: I want to ride the horse pulled trolley next.

The electric theater.

What's playing? Antony and Cleopatra, of course.

Post war Tokyo:

After the museum, our group went to a little glass studio and learned how to grind glass. A fun and educational day.

Licca Chan Gets a Job, at Baskin Robbins

Don't you hate it when you find a fun toy set at an awesome price at the local thrift store. Yeah, not.

For under $20 I bought the playset, doll, and uniform. It doesn't have all the original ice creams, but it has a bunch of extras from the accessory sets. Good deal.

Pullip - Uncanricky

I went to the Hard Off/Hobby Off today, and I know that no one is surprised that I bought something. I had been looking at this particular doll for a while, and finally decided to buy her. She is Pullip - Uncanricky by Junplanning, from 2007.

She has a lovely punk look to her and even a red jewel tear drop on her face. Bonus, she comes with her own stand and was a great price at about $69.00.

She was new in the box, which meant I had to peel lots of tape and untwist many plastic ties to get to her. I am unhappy that one of her boots is ripped in the back, but I can live with that.

As you can see, her boots have long, thin laces that need to be tied. And tied. And retied. They wont stay tied. How annoying. Ooops, her stocking slid down, how embarrassing.

Her joints are pretty tight, but that could be from being in the box all this time. I'll play with her a bit and hopefully she will loosen up. I am really pleased with her.

Girl's Day Sneak Preview

Look what I found at the "Antique" sale today.

It even has working lamps and plays music. Best part? It was 1/10th the price of similar ones I have seen at retail stores. Now I just have to dust, clean it up, and see if the lights are functional.

Hayden as the White Rabbit

Another doll I bought for myself for Christmas (I wouldn't have gotten any dollies if I didn't buy them for myself, sigh) is the Liv Doll, Hayden as the White Rabbit. I guess I have a thing for Hayden.

Out of the outer box, but still attached to the packaging. This outfit is so pretty!

Out of the package and ready to go.

Her watch even opens.

With the two other Haydens.
