Mell Chan

Now for something different.
Mell Chan by Pilot.

She is a cute Japanese toddler doll with her own wide selection of outfits and accessories.

This doll is the short, dark haired friend of Mell Chan. The regular Mell Chan has short or long blonde hair.

She comes in a yellow dress, white underpants, and a comb. The doll does not come with shoes.
She is all vinyl and is able to stand on her own.

I have one outfit for her - her 3 year old celebration kimono.

How adorable.

Bye-Bye.

The Shelves are Over Flowing

Dolls are still being unpacked.

And the shelves are overflowing. None of these are forever spots, since I need to purchase more shelving units. Until then, it is going to be a tight fit.

The two bottom shelves of both book cases still need to be cleared out, and all the 16" and up fashion dolls still need to be boxed.

Plus, I still have two moving boxes of dolls to unpack. Maybe I will get to that later this week.

Liv dolls, Starr and Barbies.

Small dolls and more Barbies.

Vogue Dolls, Shawn, and Ken.

Liccas and small dolls.

More Barbies and other dolls.

A mish mash of dolls.

The couch is over flowing too.

As is the Raggedy crib.

Pam by Fortune Toys

After a hint from another blogger and some research, I have determined the Ginny type doll in the Girl Scout outfit is most likely a 1950s Pam doll by Fortune toys.

She has molded on shoes.

Her shoulders are attached with a tubular arm hook (not shown).

Her fingers are separated.

And beneath her wig, she has molded on hair.

Her walker mechanism works great, when her legs are moved, her head moves from side to side.

While her shoes and socks fit the era, her Girls Scout uniform may be a more recent addition. The ribbons appear brand new and the outfit does not appear to be factory made.

More Vogue Ginny Dolls

Here are some close-ups of the Ginnys I purchased at the convention.

Patriotic Ginny from the God Bless America Collection.

Ginny B. Goode from the Rock 'n' Roll Collection.

I love the letter jacket and saddle shoes.

July Ginny from the Calendar Collection. In her beach bag is a blue bathing suit and a white towel.

Happy Birthday Ginny from 2001. She carries a tiny birthday card in her hand.

Bialosky Bear Give-Away

One of the items I got in the TLC Boutique grab bag that I am not going to keep is a boxed set of Bialosky Treasury stuffed animals.

I had to remove them from the box, in order to fit them in my suitcase. That was OK, since the box was already pretty damaged.

They are Cinnamon II, Nutmeg II, and Pepper, from 1995.

I'm not getting rid of them since I don't like them, I actually think that they are pretty cute. Instead I am letting them go since my stuffed animal cubby is already filled to the brim with stuffed friends that I have a sentimental attachment to.

See what I mean?

One lucky reader or Facebook friend will win this fun set. So if you are a teddy bear lover, or know a teddy bear lover, leave me a comment and I will enter you into a drawing for the set.

I will draw the winner August 1st.

2015 UFDC Convention - Kansas City: Day 7

Sunday, July 19th

I had an early start that morning, since I was assisting with the helpers. A group of us made sure that all the ticket buckets made their way to the ballroom, where the winning tickets were to be drawn. The drawings, themselves, are quite a production. There are volunteers moving buckets, dumping tickets into bowls, drawing tickets, stapling winning tickets to their cards, reading off the winners, handing the winning tickets to the data entry people, doing the data entry, ferrying the winning tickets to the alphabetical/numerical order volunteers, and the alphabetical/numerical order volunteers who help people find their winning tickets. Whew!

I was one of the runners who took the tickets from the data entry table to the alphabetical/numerical order table. I probably lost a few pounds with all that running.

But, my hard work paid off, I won 5 Helpers:

An art doll by Celia Sullivan,

Patsy in Wonderland by Tonner,

Mama's Pink Sweetheart Pussycat by Madame Alexander,

A vintage Ginny with wardrobe, and a subscription to Antique Doll magazine.

I took a last stroll through the sales room, bought a doll. Yes, it was a Ginny, of course.

These are the Ginnys and Ginny-like doll I bought at the convention.

And then relaxed. I wanted to be well rested for the Dream Come True Banquet later that evening.

At last,it was time to get dressed up and to head to the Ballroom Foyer to have a drink and socialize before the big event.

Licca got all dressed up in her jammies, after all, the theme revolved around dreams.

I found some of my friends to hang with.

And then, into the ballroom we went.

A simple centerpiece this year, but very appropriate, since it is Miss Unity, herself, the symbol of the UFDC.

I was added to a table of 9 people who are all from Northern, IL and belong to the same doll clubs. What was neat, was that I used to live in the same area and we knew some of the same people.

Another delicious dinner.

The presentation was photos of convention, and the UFDC museum to songs that featured the word Dream in their titles.

And then, it was time for us to open up our souvenir doll by Susan Fosnot.

What a fun convention. Every year it gets better and better. I can't wait for next year's convention in Washington, DC.

2015 UFDC Convention - Kansas City: Day 6

Saturday, July 18th

Saturday started out strong with the annual business meeting, the main reason for convention. Reports were read, delegates voted, and officers were inducted.

I made another trip through the sales room and bought two more dolls. I had already purchased 3 Ginnys, previously, so these purchases surprised me.

My first purchase of the day was this adorable hard-plastic walker. Now to find out what type of Ginny clone she is.

My second purchase of the day was Leandra and her yellow outfit. I fell in love. She will blend in well with my doll collection.

That afternoon I attended the Lenci program, but missed the Alice in Wonderland program due to my need for a nap. I was exhausted.

I visited the Helper Room one more time, got rid of all my tickets, and attended the Madame Alexander gathering. I didn't win any door prizes, SOB, but had a great time.

Some of the new dolls coming out.

I want the mini Wonder Woman! Batman is adorable, too.
