A Bandanna Dress for Sadie

I took some time today to make a new dress for Sadie (Madame Alexander Friends Boutique) out of a bandanna using  instructions from Hankreations.

I used a cute bandanna I bought at the hundred Yen store. It is covered with cats playing with tops.
Unfortunately, I got what I paid for. The bandanna was waaaaaay uneven. (I made the uneven part the back of the dress.)

What I learned: The directions weren't perfect for me, next time I will make the waist line lower; and she really needs a crinoline to do the skirt justice. Not bad for a first time try, though.

A Mini-Kimono for Evangeline

The weather has been cold so I have been spending a lot of time inside the house. This gave me the time to sew for Evangeline.

I used a small piece of Japanese fabric that I already had (and wish I had more of). I went back to the store I got it from, and they didn't have any more. :(

So instead of a full length kimono with full kimono sleeves, I made a short kimono with jacket sleeves.

Here she is wearing it over her Queen of the Mardi Gras dress. A perfect way to change up an existing outfit.

Showing a bit of leg.

Without an under-dress, it becomes a sexy mini or negligee.

I finished the outfit off by using the last scrap of material to make a little bag.

Petite Blythe - Muchacha Zukin

I've mentioned before that, while not a huge fan, I have 2 Petite Blythes. You can see my first post on Blythe here http://aprilperlowski-ofdolls.blogspot.jp/2013/03/petite-blythe.html

My second Petite Blythe is Muchacha Zukin from 2010. Her costume is adorable, and reminds me of a cross between Little Red Riding Hood and the yellow brick road from The Wizard of Oz.

Interesting, she has 2-toned hair, light brown underneath, and cherry red on top.

She rather desperately needs her hair combed.

A Few More Projects

December was a very busy crafting month filled with lots of gift exchanges.

An apron for an apron swap.

Placemats for another swap.

Ornaments for my friends.

And a Christmas card holder.

I was surprised that I actually found time to crochet. I made an amigurumi tamago sushi. yum.

Did you get any crafting in? What did you make?

Happy New Year!

Happy New Year!

What do you get for the most wonderful husband in the world when he already has everything he wants or needs? Something small that can fit on his desk or cubicle, but what?

Then inspiration hit me - a Sylvannian family character that rides a unicycle and plays badminton, two activities my husband enjoys. The catch - the only figure that comes with those accessories is a girl, and I haven't seen separate boy clothes for sale. No problem. I bought a little boy squirrel and exchanged him in the box with the female cat. Problem solved. And I can even claim the roller skates in the box since my husband doesn't skate.

Best friends.

Look at me! No hands!

Whee!

Whose turn is it to pick up the birdie?
