World Doll Day Present for Me

On June 15th, I found out that I had won the Ruby Lane World Doll Day give-away. Today, she arrived.

She is a Simon & Halbig 1049 child, c. 1890, and  15.5 inches tall.

Becky and Andy Ourant, who supplied the doll, even included a doll stand and a little teddy bear for her.

Thank you, Ruby Lane, for this wonderful gift.

Black Lives Matter

As June comes to a slow, hot end, it would be remiss of me if I did not mention the protests and long awaited changes that are happening in response to the murder of another black man by the police.

Black Lives Matter.

For far too long, black lives have been told that they don't matter. They have been treated as if they don't matter. They have been casually imprisoned, enslaved, and killed as if they don't matter.

So, today, from my safe spot of white privilege, I choose to say, again, that Black Lives Matter. You matter.

I couldn't ignore your pain and anger. For I was, I am, angry too.

So I put together a slightly different 4th of July display today.

Still raising the flag.

And still full of red, white, and blue. For they, "too, sing America".

Pride Month During Covid-19

June is Pride Month.

Due to the Covid-19 pandemic, Pride parades, demonstrations, and festival have been postponed for the summer across the U.S.

A few of the dolls decided to throw their own little Pride party.

Attendees got to have photo-ops with a giant, red, patent leather boot,

Take part in a wedding.

And proudly wave their flags. She is showing off her transgender Pride flag.

Even Mewnicorn flaunted their rainbow Pride.

The celebrity host of the party is none other than Rosie O'Donnell!

The dolls, and I, hope that these images of Pride and acceptance have brightened your day.
