Miss Unity Paper Doll

A couple of years ago, I received this paper doll set as a door prize.

It is a Miss Unity paper doll, originally from 1989 (the 40th anniversary of UFDC), that was re-released in 1999 for the 50th anniversary of UFDC.

She is by Peggy Jo Rosamund.

She has two outfits - the Miss Unity outfit, in white.

And a green dress under a tan coat and hat.

Not being a paper doll collector, I would like to pass her on to someone who would appreciate her before I add any more wrinkles to the doll or outfits.

What Does the Fox Say

 I mentioned in a previous post that I made an outfit for a Little Darling doll and sent it off to a friend as part of an outfit exchange.

This is the outfit I received.

It is so cute. It consists of: white tights, a white long-sleeve t-shirt, orange/brown/gold sweater, a skirt, and brown boots.

The package also included a fox friend for my doll.

How cute are they together?

Details are everything, sometimes. The skirt has cute little top-hat wearing turkeys on it. Perfect for Thanksgiving!

Having a doll outfit exchange can be a fun activity to do with friends.

A Caribbean Autumn

 Now that Halloween has passed, it is time for a new Autumn display. I put a few pumpkins on the table, including the two orange pumpkins that I liberated from my mother's basement.

The little tourist dolls in the photo were a recent thrift shop find. They were all in one tightly packed bag. When I got them home and opened up the bag, I was happy to discover that there were four dolls in all.

The doll on top of the pumpkin is on a straw-cone base, while the one in front of the pumpkin in the extravagant dress has a full stuffed body and legs.

These two dolls are topsy-turvy dolls, meaning that they have two heads and two torsos. When you flip them over and pull the skirt down, the other half of the doll is revealed.

Here they are when flipped over.

I stood them up against the pumpkins to get a good look at them, and realized they look really nice as the Fall display. What do you think?

Lovely Linda Lullabye and Rockabye Doll

Last month a friend who was cleaning out her house decided it was time to re-home her childhood dolls. So, she contacted me. I was happy to tell her that I would give one of her dolls a good home.

The one I claimed is a vintage Rockabye doll. She is a musical doll who rocks her doll, moves her head and torso, and opens and closes her eyes.

There were many dolls like this on the market in the 1970s, by all different doll companies, so it took me a while to identify this particular model.

But then I found her. Here she is in the 1976 J.C. Penny catalog.

Then, by adding J. C. Penny and Rockabye to my search, I found posts about her in the box. She is by Goldberger/Eegee and her name is Lovely Linda, Lullabye and Rockabye Doll.

Seeing it in the box was important, since the doll is only marked "Made in Hong Kong" and has no other manufacturer marks on her.

She still needs to be cleaned up a bit - wash the dust out of her outfit and hair - but otherwise she is in great shape and works.

Some of the other dolls like this on the market were: Baby Rock-A-Bye, Jane and Jenny, Lucy, Bonnie and Betsy, Tam and Tammy, Judie and Julie, June and Julie, Aggie and her Baby, Patty and Penny, and probably a whole lot more.

 Halloween has come and gone. I hope everyone had a great one.

I dressed up on Friday for work - I was a punk/goth fairy.

Saturday we put a couple of decorations outside, just in case Trick or Treaters came. They didn't.

We didn't carve a Jack-O Lantern this year, we were lazy, but we did put out our plastic Jack-O-Lantern that lights up and lit candles in the ceramic ghosts. My mom gave me the ghosts this year since she was downsizing her Autumn decorations. I am glad they are mine now.

Countdown to Halloween 2020

It is Halloween Week! 

Halloween happenings around here:

I made some Halloween themed facemasks.

You can't be too careful this year.

I sewed a vintage look Halloween costume for a friend. My Merry doll is modeling it before it got sent away.

And a little Halloween themed doll play happened. Honee-B decided to be a purple bat and got up to mischief in the pumpkin patch.

Now I have to figure out what I will be wearing for Halloween.

Bowling Zombies

Lots of families have items that only get put out and used seasonally or for specific holidays. This is one of those items. Usually I forget that it is even in the closet. So this year it gets to come out and celebrate Halloween, for the first time in years.

Presenting - Bowling Zombies!

It consists of 9 zombies in various stages of decay, one damsel in distress, and one bomb/bowling ball. The goal is to bowl down as many zombies as possible without knocking down the damsel.

Can you find the damsel in distress? Here is a hint, she has blond hair.

Living Dead Dolls

Today I decided to unbox my two Living Dead Dolls, by Mezco Toys, from their boxes. Both dolls are from Series 32 from 2016.

Up first is Butcher Boop.

She comes with a mask and a death certificate. They were located in the back of the box.

Here she is wearing the mask.

I do love that their boxes are little coffins. The boxes just become part of the Halloween decor.

Ick. Her death certificate says that she carved her face off to make her mask and then ate it.

And this is Ernest Lee Rotten (Earnestly Rotten - LOL)

He also comes with a mask and death certificate.

I think they are a nice addition.

Sulwar Kameez for 18" Dolls

Well, I finally got a new sewing machine. It is like magic! I used the sewing machine to finish making this cute outfit that fits American Girl dolls for a friend.

I really like how it turned out.

It is a Sulwar Kameez/Tunic and Pants - a style that is popular in India and Pakistan.
